"And it's a wasted love, that we all regret." So goes the line from Above & Beyond's hit single "Thing Called Love". Thankfully A&B fan Matthew Norcott won't be regretting anything, thanks to his secret plan to propose to his girlfriend Charlie Munro during Above & Beyond's set at Creamfields at the weekend.
Matthew had contacted Above & Beyond to ask if they could help him propose in the most dramatic of fashions. The plan would involve band members Jono & Tony posting up the proposal on the big screen while "Thing Called Love" was playing.
Nerves jangled until finally, Richard Bedford's unmistakable vocals signalled to Matthew that the moment had arrived. As the proposal appeared on the screen behind the stage all eyes turned on the couple and thousands of fans all held their breath. Would this be a moment to remember for a lifetime or one to forget? As the tension hit fever pitch, word finally got back to the stage on Charlie's answer, and that's when Tony happily delivered it on the screen for all to see, "She said yes", as a mixture of relief and euphoria enveloped the crowd.
"We've been talking about our show as being all about the experience people have in the room when we're all together, that's the whole Group Therapy idea, really," said Tony from Above & Beyond. "This was one of those moments we'll all remember."
Anjunabeats would like to congratulate Matthew and Charlie and wish them a long and happy life together.
