KYIV SOLOISTS

Foundation of the National Chamber Ensemble “KYIV SOLOISTS” is implementation of long-standing dream of Bogodar Kotorovych (1941-2009).
Maestro has devoted almost 68 years of his life to music and the violin. At the peak of his career, he created the National Chamber Ensemble “Kyiv Soloists”. The Ensemble, comprising young dynamic talents with an average age of 35 years, was assembled literally one by one, as Bogodar Kotorovych was meticulous in choosing the finest musicians. All of them are laureates of national and international competitions, and each can stand as a soloist. The musicians of the Ensemble aim to make classical music more popular with youthful energy. “The emphasis on young performers was conscious and intentional. This is because they possess live liness, bring emotional meaningfulness to the performance and thrill of sound. Plus undoubted technical skillfulness” explains Bogodar Kotorovych. Apprentice of outstanding contemporary professor Yu. Yankelevych, he has been leading violinist of Ukraine for many years. B.Kotorovych – winner of international violinists contests – named after Enesku in Bucharest and named after Paganini in Genoa. Since 1967 he began to teach, and in 1980 headed violin department in the Tchaikovsky National Academy of Music. He was constantly invited as a member of jury of international contests – named after Paganini (Genoa), named after Lipicer (Gorizia, Italy), named after Nielsen (Odense, Denmark), named after Vronskiy (Warsaw), named after Tchaikovsky (Moscow), ARD (Munich), in Sendai (Japan), Ottawa (Canada), Hague (the Netherlands), Caltanissetta (Italy). In 1994 he worked in Sidney music conservatory, in the capacity of invited professor. In 1995 he established International contest of young violinists in Kharkiv. Besides, he was permanent chairman of the Ukrainian contest of violinists named after Lysenko in Kyiv. In May 1999 mayor of Italian city Genoa brought by special flight to Kyiv violin of Paganini “Canon” made by Guarneri del Gesù for concerts of Bogodar Kotorovych. In 1999 and 2000 B. Kotorovych was a winner of prestige All-Ukrainian award “Man of the year”.

The ensemble , recognized by listeners and critics in different countries of the world, unites talented young musicians of Ukraine . Since October 2009 Chief Conductor of the ensemble – Dmytro Logvyn. Since 2011 to 2014 Chief Conductor of the ensemble – Honored Figure of Arts of Ukrane, winner of the National Prize by Taras Shevchenko Volodymyr Sirenko . Currently Art Director Honored Figure of Arts of Ukrane - Oles Yasko.
The ensemble gained reputation of popularizers authors of world level, whose works were performed in the territory of Ukraine. So, Ukrainian audience was presented for the first time with “Military requiem” of B.Britten and double concert of G. Palmer “Need two”. Effective co-operation of the ensemble with such outstanding contemporary composers as Ye. Stankovych, V. Silvestrov, K. Penderetskyi deserves special attention.
Multiple potential of the ensemble draws attention of the world performers of different style directions – concerts with V.Papyan (piano, Israel), DUO GURFINKEL (clarinets, Israel), I.Chetuyev (piano,Ukraine), N.Grubert (piano, the Netherlands), J.Milkis (clarinet, USA), U.Uliona (viola, Lithuania), D.Severin (violoncello, Switzerland), D.Ashkenazi (clarinet, Switzerland) take place together with concerts of band “Okean Elzy” (Ukraine), jazz singer N.Katamadze (Georgia) and founder of band «Deep Puple» J.Lord. High poetic spirit of artistes in conjunction with peculiar Ukrainian music tradition enslaves by avant-gardism world audience in such famous halls as Luxembourg Palace and UNESCO in Paris, Komische Oper in Berlin, Great National Philharmonic Hall in Warsaw, Concert Hall “Flagey” in Belgium, RadioKulturhaus in Vienna, Concert Hall Esplanade in Singapore, World Exhibition “Expo-2005” in Japan. They are invited participants of international festivals named after D. Oistrakh (Pärnu, Estonia), modern music “Warsaw Autumn” (Warsaw, Poland), modern music in Krakow (Poland), classic music in Ruhr (Germany), “Season music premiers”, “KyivMusicFest”, “GOGOLFEST”, “ChamberArtMusic”. For active brilliant activity in representation of Ukrainian performance culture in the world ensemble “Kyiv Soloist” gained status “Ambassador of the Ukrainian culture” of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

1999 (November) - Germany. Classical music festival in Ruhr, Concerts in Berlin and Munich.
2000 (September) - Poland. International Festival of Contemporary Music "Warsaw Autumn".
2001 (July) - Austria. Grand Prix – 30-Th International music festival and competition in Vienna. First prizes in the following nominations ’Chamber orchestras’ and ‘All orchestras’.
2001 (September) - Germany. World premiere of the Philipp Emmanuelle Bach’s cantata ‘Grateful friendship hymn’ together with the choir (Komishce Oper, Berlin).
2001 and 2003 – Japan. The concert tours in Japan cities including Tokyo and Kyoto. The recording of one of the concerts. 
2004 (March) – Belgium. Concert in hall ‘Flagey’.
2004 (April) – Kyiv. International musical festival of Benjamin Britten 2004 in Kiev. World premiere of scenic version of ‘War requiem’. 
2004 (July) – Poland. International musical festival of contemporary music in Krakow. 
2005 (August) – Japan. International Exhibition ‘Expo-2005’. The concert in the central exhibition hall of Expo-plaza.
2005 (September) – France, Paris. Performances in the Church of St. Magdalen, Senate and UNESCO conference-hall.
2005 (December) – Singapore. The days of Ukraine in Singapore.
The concert in the Esplanade concert hall.
2005 (December) - Kyiv. 10 years anniversary the consort celebrated with the concert in the National philharmonic. 
2006 (August) - Estonia. In connection with 15 years anniversary of the Ukrainian independence the concert tour to the cities of Estonia.
2006 (October) - Austria. Concert in ‘Radiokulturhaus’ (Vienna) in connection with the opening of Ukrainian cultural centre in Austria. 
2006 (December) - Kyiv. Presentation of the disc ‘Sotvorinnja’(From Ukrainian ‘Creation’) in PinchukartCentre
2007 (July) – Russia, Moscow. In the frames of Ukrainian-Russian summit gave the concert. 
2007 (November) - Estonia. The concert tour to the cities of Estonia.
2008 (March) – Poland. XII Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival. The consert tour to the cities of Poland.
