Retsof (Scott Zest)
Scott started producing tracks as a young kid around the age of 11 on an Amiga 600 computer and dual cassette decks, recording the four 8-bit tracks to tape and then overdubbing more layers, repeating the process multiple times to build tracks. Growing up on a diet of early hip hop and house he also began collecting early 90's hardcore and jungle vinyl on labels such as Formation Records, Suburban Base and Moving Shadow.
After clubbing across the country and inadvertently ending up at places like Voodoo at Le Bateau in Liverpool, Atomic Jam at The Q Club in Birmingham and many other techno nights he began searching out techno vinyl and working his productions towards a more 4/4 style, all the while still combining multiple genres together in experimental productions via the Amiga, eventually moving away from that archaic piece of equipment to a more modern computer in the late 90's.
Fast forward a decade or so and Scott has forged his own label, Input Output Systems, as the sole output channel for his work, preferring to retain complete control of the end product after working with various 'netlabels' and being disillusioned with the effort put in.
Through producing floor punishing tracks, recognition in a wider area came from the support of several DJ's in the Birmingham techno scene, consequently being invited to play at nights such as Resonance, Basement Sessions and AUM amongst others, Scott has cut his teeth serving out tracks to serious techno loving crowds, consistently banging but always providing a unique slant on the genre.
You can check out some of Scott's productions under numerous aliases such as Retsof, Ixion Comission, Research Operative at the following links:http://inputoutputsystems.bandcamp.com http://soundcloud.com/scott-zest
Ross Alexander (Live)
Ross’s passion for techno was sparked in the mid nineties by legendary UK techno nights the Orbit, Voodoo and Bugged Out. Having spent many years on the dancefloor, absorbing the sounds of the best international Djs from the UK and beyond. In 2010 he started exploring music production as a hobby which fast turned into an addiction.
After a number of years learning his trade his work started to be signed and noticed by some of the leading players in the techno scene such as Dave Clarke, Adam X, Audio Injection and many others.
Ross’s style ranges from hard hitting old school and more industrial workouts, to hypnotic groovers and more experimental pieces and melodic works. His label Forte Techno, which he runs with Glasgow’s Steven McDonagh has been steadily gaining momentum since they started in 2012, and 2013 has seen Ross release his debut album on the label Rhapsody of Discontent, which has been very well received and is to be followed shortly by a live set. Ross has also released works with A.Paul’s Naked Lunch and Joseph McGeechan’s BCR, which have been hammered worldwide and expanded his fan base considerably.
