lineup and details for evoid on sun 10th august 2014
In August this year, eVoid will be returning to South Africa for a reunion tour to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the gold selling debut album. The band have included a gig at the Half Moon in response to requests from their London fanbase.
were known for creating a New Romantic 'Fadgets' look consisting of colourful ethno-gypsy outfits accessorised with zulu and ndebele beadwork. Their music ranges from well-crafted pop songs to ethno-junk rhythms.
In 1984, their debut album, simply called eVoid, went to no.1 in the Springbok Charts, reaching gold status that same year. Follow up albums include 'Here comes the ROT' (1986) and 'Graffitti Lounge' (2008). Reviewing the last CD, Johannesburg newspaper The Citizen wrote ' the songwriting power is still very much in evidence, and what could have been a tricky career stumble is, without doubt, a triumph.'
The current band consists of founder members, brothers Lucien and Erik Windrich on guitar/vocals and keyboards/guitar/vocals respectively, who still look as young and fresh as ever on their brightly coloured zimmer frames and walking sticks. They are joined by veteran South African musicians Yoyo Buys on bass and Mike Horne on drums.
They will be playing all of their oldies and more, so be prepared to junk jive in the aisles; the legendary eVoid are back!
