Haim is a band out of Los Angeles, California, comprised of sistersEste, Danielle, and Alana, and drummer Dash Hutton. Their music career began when their parents formed a family band that often played local charity events. Danielle and Este went on to join The Valli Girls, an all girl group signed by Columbia Records. The Valli Girls had songs featured on the soundtrack to "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" and the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards soundtrack.

In 2006 the Haim Sisters decided to form their own band and focus on their musical style, an eclectic mix of folk rock and R&B. Each sister plays multiple instruments, with Este on base and guitar, Danielle on guitar and drums, and Alana on guitars, percussion, and keyboards. They played shows alongside pop notables such as Ke$ha, leading to the recording of a three song EP, "Forever," which was initially available as a free download on their website. In 2012 they signed a deal with Polydor Records in the UK. They are also signed with Jay-Z's management group, RocNation, in the United States.
