Jean-Claude Van Damme will play in the remake of "Kickboxer"

Hollywood actor Jean-Claude Van Damme will play in the remake of the movie "Kickboxer", according to The Hollywood Reporter. He is currently in negotiations on the participation in the project. It is expected, that the film will be released in 2015.

In the film actor and martial arts master was asked to become not a pupil as in the previous film, and a teacher. If he joins the creative team, he will replace the Thai actor Tony Jaa, who had to withdraw from the project due to the incompatibility of work schedules. Along with Van Damme in a new film will play  Dave Batista ("Guardians of the Galaxy") and Alain Moussy ("X-Men: Days of Future Past"). On the production of the film will work John Stockwell ("Crazy/ Beautiful").

The original film "Kickboxer" was released in 1989, when Van Damme was 29 years old. In the story, the main character witnesses the brutal Muay Thai fight, after which his older brother is confined to a wheelchair. Having decided to take revenge on the enemy of his brother, Van Damme's character meets with an old teacher of martial arts, acquiring the necessary skills and enters the ring. Experts note that "Kickboxer" became one of the best actions, in which starred the actor.
