The film company Universal is preparing to produce a biopic ‘Straight Outta Compton’ about hip-hop group N.W.A.

The initiative followed from its former members - Ice Cube (O'Shea Jackson),

Dr. Dre (Andre Young), as well as from the widow of Eazy-E (Eric Lynn Wright). The future film director Felix Gary Gray intends to stand in the role of Ice Cube his son O'Shea Jackson Jr. However, Universal Studio has not confirmed the casting.

The script written by Jonathan Herman, will cover about four years of the band since its rise and peak of popularity before the collapse in 1991. In February 2014 Ice Cube reported that he too would like to see his son as himself in the film. However, before approving someone to participate in the filming, the company will consider several candidates from rappers and actors.

Originally to shoot the film ‘Straight Outta Compton’ had planned New Line studio, but then the project came to Universal. It is expected, that the budget will be about $ 25 million.

N.W.A group was created in 1986. Some lyrics that contain obscene words, led to the fact that they were banned played on radio stations in major in America. Nevertheless, were sold over 10 million records of the band, and N.W.A was included in the list of the 100 Greatest Artists according to the ‘Rolling Stone’ magazine.
