Angelina Jolie plans to leave acting career after the role of Cleopatra
Actress Angelina Jolie has confirmed rumors that she plans to play the role of Cleopatra in a biopic on the script by Eric Roth.
This role, according to Jolie, may be the last in her acting career. Because she intends to devote her future life to family, charity and humanitarian work as a goodwill ambassador for the UN.
The actress commented information in the interview for BBC News, where said, that she had a wonderful career, and she is very happy to work as long as she could. But Jolie would like to concentrate on writing and directing, and above all - on her work in the UN.
The script for a movie about famous Egyptian woman will be based on the book «Cleopatra: A Life» by American writer and biographer, and also Pulitzer Prize winner in 2000 - Stacy Schiff. The director for a new film was not chosen yet. It may be James Cameron, Ang Lee or David Fincher.
Earlier media reported that Cleopatra performed by Jolie will not be a seductress. In contrast to the image created by Elizabeth Taylor, queen of Egypt in the new film will appear like experienced politician and strategist. Date of release is still unknown.
Recall, that for the recent years Angelina Jolie visited with a humanitarian mission over a dozen countries. In 2005 she was awarded the Humanitarian Award of the United Nations.
