“Lost Kingdoms” – Exhibition of Hindu-Buddhist culture

The New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art holds an exhibition which is already being called the exhibition of the year. Here you can see 160 treasures of early Buddhism!

Lost Kingdoms’ exhibition explores the earliest sculptures of Southeast Asia and dominant in that time religion - early Buddhism, Brahmanism, formed in the first millennium B.C. Many of the exhibits are national treasures of modern states in the region: Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore. Many years ago on these areas were such ancient countries as: Dvaravati (modern Thailand), Funan (Cambodia), Tyampa (Vietnam), and others. For Myanmar culture this exhibition in general became the first traveling one, when ancient sculptures dating from VIII - V centuries B.C., left the country. Most of the works are made of stone, but there are gold, silver, bronze and terracotta exhibits. The exhibition runs until July 27.
