The film takes place in the world in the future, tyrannical Chicago. All the young boys and girls 16 years old are required to choose one of five factions based on their personalities and become a part of them. Each faction – is a certain quality: Sincerity, Renunciation, Fearlessness, F0riendliness and Bursaries.
However, sixteen Beatrice Prior, despite her birth and upbringing in denial, always knew her place in the other faction. Suddenly she learned that she is divergent – a human with hidden abilities, not like everyone else. So, she can be in three factions: Renunciation, Erudition and Fearlessness. Brave Beatrice chooses the path of courage.
