The plot of the film based on the real special operation carried out in the late 70s - early 80s codenamed FBI "Abscam". The operation was carried out to investigate the trade of stolen goods. FBI introduced their agents to a criminal environment under the guise of middlemen who bought stolen masterpieces for wealthy collectors in the Middle East. It was made for disclosing of corruption at different levels.
