Event description

lineup and details for scottish fiddle orchestra in concert on sat 13th september 2014

With fabulous concerts in Perth, Gateshead, Aberdeen and Edinburgh already this year, the SFO’s return to the Royal Glasgow Concert Hall on September 13th promises to be another fantastic evening filled with lively Scottish jigs and reels, beautiful slow airs, dance and song, and with a measure of stirring pipe music thrown in. It all adds up to the usual SFO cocktail which keeps bringing back audiences year after year.

The SFO will be welcoming back on stage the renowned mezzo-soprano Colette Ruddy and tenor Dennis Haggerty who have delighted audiences all over the country with their blend of song and humour. Add to this the spectacular dancing of Catriona and Marnie Clark from the Myra Shuttleworth School of Dancing, a wonderful performance of Blair Douglas’s 'Nelson Mandela's Welcome to the City of Glasgow' along with piping from the 1st Troon Boys’ Brigade Pipe Band, and like a good whisky you have the perfect blend! Of course you need someone to mix the blend together, and who better than the SFO’s charismatic young conductor Blair Parham, ably aided and abetted by compere for the evening, Jim McColl.
