Event description

lineup and details for park on park street on sun 1st june 2014

On Sunday 1st June, Park Street in Bristol will be closed to traffic to be turned into a pop up park.

An initiative from the Park Street Traders committee, the landmark street will transform from a commuter thoroughfare into a green space, with everything from artificial grass to trees to create the urban park.

With support from the award-winning artificial grass company easigrass’s Bristol and Bath franchise, Verde Recreo Ltd, this famed Bristol street will be transformed into a safe, easi-green-covered area where the public can come and relax, eat, drink and shop.

The day will be full of activities and entertainment, with traders showcasing to the public and highlighting the diversity that Park Street has to offer. There will also be an entertainment stage at the bottom of the street near College Green hosting music, dance displays, and food demonstrations.

The day starts at 11am and will continue throughout the day until 10pm.

Mayor George Ferguson is getting behind the project saying: “A Park on Park St? I’m delighted to see local retailers embracing the sentiment of opening our streets up for people and thank Park Street Traders for coming up with this great idea.

'The pop-up park will be in addition to the 2014 Make Sunday Special events to make Park Street a traffic-free, people-friendly zone. Hopefully this will build on the success of the recent water slide and I look forward to seeing people enjoying themselves, as local traders bring a little bit of green and a lot of fun to one of our finest urban streets.”
