Olly Murs (born Oliver Stanley Murs, 14.05.1984)

Olly Murs is an English singer and TV presenter.

Childhood
Olly Murs was born in Witham, Essex. His parents are Vicki-Lynn and Peter Murs.
He attended Howbridge Junior School in Witham and Notley High School in Braintree, Essex where he excelled at football and later played semi-professionally for Witham Town. However, his football career was ended following a damaging injury.
Before auditioning for 'The X Factor', he was a recruitment consultant and had a covers band called Small Town Blaggers. 
In 2007, he won £10 on the gameshow 'Deal or No Deal'.
In 2008, he went backpacking alone in Australia.
He had already auditioned twice before for 'The X factor' but never made it past producers.

Musical career
Olly Murs auditioned for the sixth series of 'The X Factor' in 2009 with a cover of Stevie Wonder's 'Superstition'.
After having positive feedback throughout the competition, he came second place, losing first place to Joe McElderry. 
On the day of the semi-finals, he was forced to miss his brother's wedding due to his 'X Factor' commitments.
In 2010, he signed a joint record deal with Epic Records and Syco Music.
His first single, 'Please Don't Let Me Go', topped the UK singles chart beating Katy Perry's hit song 'Teenage Dream'.
His self-titled debut album hit the charts at number 2 and his next single 'Thinking of Me' reached number 4.
There was media backlash that year after he was paid £15,000 to turn on the Christmas lights in his hometown of Chelmsford, Essex after the council announced they would be axing hundreds of jobs. He did, however, donate the fee.
In 2011, he supported JLS on their summer tour.
The lead single of his second album was 'Heart Skips a Beat' featuring Rizzle Kicks which entered the charts at number one on its release in 2011 and was in the top 10 in many European countries.
Next single 'Dance with Me Tonight' was also a number one hit, as was the album 'In Case You Didn't Know'.
In 2012, he released 'Troublemaker', the first single of his third album 'Right Place Right Time' which he promoted with a major UK and European tour.
He opened for One Direction when they hit the US for their Up All Night Tour in 2012.
In 2013, he was announced as the support act for Robbie Williams on his Take the Crown Stadium Tour.
Other career ventures
Olly Murs trekked the Kenyan Kaisut desert in 2011 Red Nose Day.
He won £10,000 for charity on the celebrity version of 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?'
In 2011, he was announced as a co-presenter alongside Caroline Flack on 'The Xtra Factor'. In 2013, he announced that he quit in order to work more on his music career.
In 2012, he played at the Big Gig for Sport Relief alongside Rizzle Kicks and JLS.
He played for Soccer Aid at Old Trafford but suffered an injury during the match.
He has appeared on various sports shows such as talkSPORT and has even released a DVD entitled 'Olly Murs: 7 Deadly Sins of Football'. 
He has modelled for Europe clothing store NewYorker and Robbie Williams' label Farrell.
In 2012, he released his autobiography 'Happy Days'.
